We chose the name Red Queen Extracts because we acknowledge nature’s arbitrary and chaotic power to both create and destroy. Some may think that the idea of running as fast as you can, only to stay in place, is not the rosiest of outlooks, especially for a hemp company. But we don’t believe that Carroll’s Red Queen or nature herself turn out to be as dismal as the words may make her seem. In fact, we embrace this truism.
For us mortals, and all living things, life is a constant and unending race against entropy, but that does not make it meaningless. In fact, nature – the Red Queen, with all her seeming chaos and randomness – is also the force that brings out the best in us. In our ceaseless contest with nature, we bring new order into the world out of chaos. Without chaos, which is another word for possibility, there is no order, or invention, or beauty.
Nature is our fiercest adversary and our closest benefactor. Sure, she dispenses all the problems of the natural world, but also all of its beauty and utility in a way only she could. So at Red Queen, we embrace nature as a dangerous, but ultimately life affirming force.
Hemp is one of the Red Queen’s (nature’s) gifts, and we’re running as fast as we can to extract all the potential this gift has to offer. It’s not easy, but we’re okay with that because contending with nature to enjoy her and her gifts provides us, and hopefully you, with a greater sense of meaning and fulfillment than we could otherwise enjoy.
The Red Queen’s challenge to Alice is just that – a challenge to be answered, not shied away from. So we will not shy away. We’ll have to run as fast we can and faster than that, but we’re ready and happy to do so because only the Red Queen knows what other treasures she’s hidden in that wonderful invention of hers: the hemp plant.
We believe that hemp is an inestimably valuable product, both for personal health and the fun experience of a “high.” It is a wonderful substance that can, if you let it, make your life better in your own personal way.
Red Queen is a privately held company which means we don’t have investors we have to please or shareholders we have to worry about. Because you, our community, is the only special interest we have to please, we know that the only way we can succeed is by giving you what you want. Luckily for us, bringing products you love to market is exactly what we want to do, and we get paid to do it. It’s awesome!
Our team represents a wide spectrum of seemingly unrelated backgrounds. Some of us are relatively new to hemp, while others have been in the industry since the first legal program went statewide in California. With backgrounds in the contracting, finance, logistics, project management and, most importantly, hemp/cannabis industries, our team is one of the strangest, but most well-rounded groups in the industry.
Our management group is divided evenly between our business experts and hemp/cannabis experts. Our business side has financial, contracting and logistics expertise dating back to 1987, with a combined 46 years of experience in those fields. Project management is a fancy term for problem solving large scale, time-sensitive problems in which failure is not option. Successfully navigating this new and at times unstable industry is one string of complex problems to solve after another – problems that require ideas to be turned into actual results.
Our hemp/cannabis experts came up through the wild west days of the legal California market and cut their teeth in nearly every major legal market, with an emphasis on precise chemistry and engineering. Ultimately, this means that the business team knows how to efficiently and cost effectively realize the goals our hemp team sets for our products. So, our hemp team handles the “What” problems, and our business team handles the “how” problems. The “why” is of course to live well and authentically, and we hope we can help you, the “who” of it all, do the same.
While our backgrounds are wildly divergent, our team is unified in the effort to do things the right way, but without any pretension or judgement. We want to do it the right way, not because we want praise or influence, but because the right way is how it SHOULD be done.
